[Opinions] Re: Brienne
in reply to a message by Felie
I think that anyone who watches Game of Thrones will assume that you are a fan of the show or the book.
I feel that Brienne is pretty and I much prefer it to Brianne/ Briane or Brianna/ Briana.
It reminds me of the beautiful names Vivienne and Adrienne.

I don't know about in Italy but in the US I have never met a person named Brienne. I had never heard of the name Brienne before I read the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series.
It sounds very similar to Brianne. I have met around one Brianne before and I have met many Brianna's. I have also met a few Bree's.
I think anyone who watches GoT will think a Brienne was named because her parents watched the show or read the books. Not a bad thing just something to be conscious of.
Anyone who isn't familiar with the show or books will just think it is a variant of Brianne. It definitely feels like an actual name, I would instinctively assume it was a French form of Brianne.
As I said earlier I like it. Whether or not it is usable I think depends on whether or not you care that the name is strongly connected to GoT. That opinion will vary from person to person and I'm not certain about my own feelings. I think it wouldn't deter me from using it if I loved it, but I am not certain.
