The Reynolds family:
David was born and raised in Tanzania, the son of a British diplomat, and after his family returned to Britain when he was twelve he always said he'd move back when he grew up. Now, he's making that dream come true, and bringing his new wife
Deirdre with him.
David, who has wavy black hair and green eyes, is an actor. He usually gets type-cast as "clueless mzungu" in the locally produced movies, but hopes to work his way up to other roles, and maybe even directing or producing one day.
Deirdre has always wanted to see other parts of the world, and is fascinated with the completely different culture and climate and living conditions in Tanzania. The biggest drawback, though, is the heat and strong sun - she burns really easily! Aside from pale skin, she has curly red hair and green eyes. She volunteers at a center for HIV positive people who were cast out of their families when their diagnosis became known.

Year 2: Random event - write a book
Deirdre is often overwhelmed by her job, the completely different reality facing someone who is HIV positive in Tanzania compared to in the western world, and decides she needs to write about it. It starts as a journal for her to pour her emotions and experiences into, but when
David reads it, he tells her she should try to get it published.

Year 4: Random - receive an award
Deirdre's book is published! It sells fairly well, and receives an award for her portrayal of both the difficulties the people at the center face, and the strength and compassion most of them face life with, without pretending the ones that don't have that strength don't exist.

Year 5:
Job - promotion
David gets a strong role in a film he thinks is going to be really successful. He also uses the opportunity to build up a contact net for the future. One day, he thinks he would like to see a movie made from
Deirdre's book, and if he could play a part in making that happen...

Year 8: Adoption - (not rolling for country) - girl - newborn to six months
When a woman at the center passes away from AIDS only three months after giving birth to a baby girl,
David and
Deirdre decide to adopt her orphaned daughter. Her name is
Awiti, and they add
Joy as a middle name in the hope she will never feel less wanted than their biological daughters. Fortunately the birth mother's HIV has not been passed down to
Awiti, thanks to the health care received at the center.
Awiti has curly black hair and brown eyes.

Year 9: Pet - bird
While chickens are good for eggs, they're not really pets as such.
David and
Deirdre acquire a yellow-collared lovebird, a type of local parrot. It learns to speak as their children do, which leads to a form of parrot baby talk. After a brief argument between the triplets, it is named Beaky.

Year 10: Adoption - (not rolling for country) - twins - fraternal twin boys - 3 or 4
Once again,
David and
Deirdre hear of orphaned children through the center, this time three-year-old twin boys of mixed race. They have a discussion about it before taking them in, but it mainly consists of both of them saying "I know it seems crazy, but..." The boys both have curly black hair, but where
Isingoma's eyes are brown,
Tendaji's shade more towards hazel. Once again,
David and
Deirdre add middle names meaning joy.
