Agree, would also pronounce it as Brett-uh.
Quite nice and similar to my sister's name, she is called Britta Selin.
It's a very dated Swedish name, shortform of Birgitta.
(This is again the Swedish version of Brigitte, Birgit, Bridget & Delia)
