[Opinions] Charleigh
Somebody I know recently just added a new addition to the family. Long story short, they named her Charleigh Rae. Even though I’m genuinely getting more and more annoyed with -leigh ending names,
This story in particular was very interesting.: So basically, the “Char” part was in honor of Charleigh’s Grandfather Charlie, on her fathers side. And the “Leigh” part was in honor of her Grandmother “Lei Lei” .(Real name Leilani.) Interestingly enough, Grandfather Charlie and Grandmother Leilani died on the same day apparently. 5 years later, and 2 days after they both died, Charleigh was born. They decided Charlei didn’t look right, Charlie didn’t fit right for a girl, and Leilani was a name they never really liked. So, they just went with Charleigh. The middle name, Rae, is because of how it was spelled out R-A-E. R, for the brothers name, A, for a deceased loved one, and E, for another loved ones name. The sibset is Florence and Charleigh.
Anyways, the story behind her name is very interesting, and I personally love the sentiment behind it. (Even though I still dislike leigh names with a passion.) And it’s quite refreshing to see people put some thought into kids names instead of just random name fillers and stuff like that. So yeah.
Anyways, whats your opinion on the name Charleigh? Do you like the combo Charleigh Rae? Thoughts on the story behind it?

Awful, just awful.
The story is cute, but the name Charleigh is still weird to me. It’s not even an eye sore, just weird.

Never have liked it for a girl, nice family significance though
Looks atrocious
Yeah, the story is nice, but I don't think it justifies the abomination that is Charleigh.

Definitely couldn't agree more.
Nothing justifies Charleigh. Absolutely nothing. It's an absolute eyesore.

As it stands, it looks really awful. I would have been OK with Charley, given the family connection.
Charleigh Rae kinda sounds like a hillbilly name. You can even use her full name. For some reason I imagine somebody saying this in a southern accent:
“Hey, Charleigh Rae! Come milk these cows and get all those chickens in the barn!”
But yeah, as far as her name, the name Charleigh is okay, and they way they got Rae is cute. I personally think people crap on the name Charleigh too much.

Charleigh is terrible but the way they got Rae is cute (even if it sounds like a filler MN).
I don't get why people think "eigh" looks feminine at all, especially if they think it looks MORE feminine than "ie".
I'd prefer:
Charlotte Leilani
Leia Charlotte (this seems like an easy option to name after Lei Lei if you don't like Leilani?)
Leilani Charlotte
Or, if hard-to-spell middle names were an option and they wanted to include RAE:
Leilani Raecha (RAY-cha)
Leilani Charaea / Charea (cha-RAY-a or sha-RAY-a)

It's nice that it has a personal meaning to them. I personally wish they'd just gone with Charlie. I find it slightly 2000s dated and dislike it but it looks nicer. Florence and Charleigh don't go well together. Rae is fine but together they sound trendy.
I would have gone for Leia Charline or Lani Charline or something like that.
