The first time I heard the name Farran (I think it was in a book - I'm having difficulty remembering), I thought it was an Irish name, given its similarity to names like Ciaran, Finbarr, etc. However, I'd looked it up on this site to find it in the database, and listed as an English name (via Norman French). I added it to my PNL, but it was still largely a "back-burner" name for years.
Now, I've started thinking about it. Thinking I'd like to meet a Farran in real life. But when I looked on my PNL, it wasn't there! I thought that was very strange, because I knew I'd added it. So I searched on BtN... and saw that it was actually deleted from the main database for being too rare a given name. There was even a post on the Name Facts board about it, along with some other names that were removed:

Farran is now part of the Submitted Names database, so I went ahead and added that version back to my PNL - the main list.
Anyway, wdyt of Farran?
