[Opinions] Re: Obadiah

Yes that is an actual thing, where names often disappear for 100 years and then come back.
Obadiah is such a cool name. Clunky and weighty, but I don’t mind that at all! It could make a bit of a comeback, wouldn’t say it would happen here in Australia, but in the UK I could see it and parts of the US too.

Names don't automatically "come back" after 90 to 100 years -- it's just that they become eligible for revival in the eyes of most young parents because they no longer associate them with "old and ugly" but can then see them as "cool and retro". But they still need to fit in with the sound fashions of the times and not have developed any massive negative stereotypes. It will be hard for Bertha to "come back" in the USA because it got stuck with the stereotype of "fat and loud."
There also are instances where a name "comes back" earlier than expected because it fits in so well with other popular names of the moment. Audrey in the USA in the 1990s, which came back about 20 years earlier than normal, is an example of that.
