[Opinions] Re: Samuel, Thomas or Jacob for a boy?
in reply to a message by Guest
I have always thought Samuel (sa-mule-ehl) as a very unpleasant sound and looks unattractive (again the uel part) so that one is out for me. I do like the sweet, boy-next-door nickname Sam. Thomas is softer (certainly not in a bad way!) than Jacob which sounds tougher. I like them equally. Jacob has been used in my family since the 17th century, but my mother wanted to name me Thomas so I have a soft spot for that too.I think all three lend themselves for a nickname (unavoidable) so take that into consideration. Which do you prefer? Sam, Tom or Jake?

Actually, I’ve known several Jacobs who were just that, so I don’t think the nickname is entirely unavoidable! :)
Good to know!
