[Opinions] Re: Puma ++
in reply to a message by Elle
The poo- sound worries me. And the look of Pu- worries me too. Alas. And I disagree that it "works for a little girl" - actually that statement makes me snicker a little! It'd be a semi-decent name on a grown woman, I guess, but it would probably seem affectedly sexy.Tiger on a little boy (or girl) = affectionate reference to the child's supposed future physical power, stamina & grace as a man (or woman).
Puma on a little girl = ? affectionate reference to the girl's supposed future ... stealth and man-eating tendencies as a woman? Hehe. I could warm up to the idea, but ... I just don't know.The meaning aside, I could like the sound of it, even on a little girl. But I can't get away from the over-the-top "sexiness" and aggression suggested by a big cat plus the sort of sensuous sound of the word.I like Robin, Raven, Starling, Tiger, Jay, Drake.Looking up Puma I found the Brazilian name for the animal, which I think makes a nicer name (likely because it doesn't make me think of a mountain lion): Suçuarana. Anyone able to tell me how this is pronounced?Puma Evangeline: hehe... this doesn't work for me, sorry.
How about something less contrasty?
Puma Janel
