I don't care for them. I live in an area that had a lot of Italian immigrants settle there in the early 1900s, and now a lot of little girls are being named this sort of thing, and it just seems very, very false to me. In a way, it's the trendy thing to do around here. You never see
Allegra or
Ottavia or
Beatrice (Bay-uh-tree-chay), you get the American-watered-down-Italian
Gianna because "ohmigosh", it's Italian, didn't you know? They are nice enough names, but for me, they just carry a negative association.
