Threads on the message boards can be assigned tags. Tags are keywords that describe the thread's subject. These tags can be used to conveniently group related threads.

Tags can be written directly into messages by preceding them with a # symbol (for example #middlenames). When searching by tag, only tags written into the main thread-starting message will be matched (meaning tags in replies are ignored).

Tags can also be written into the additional tags field when posting the message. Users in good standing who have consistently used an account here for at least 6 months can add and change these tags, even for threads they did not start.

Guidelines:

• Tags may only contain letters, numbers, dashes (-) and apostrophes (')
• Try to reuse tags
• It is NOT necessary to add tags for the thread's author, or the board on which the thread appears
• Names make excellent tags
