Comments (Meaning / History Only)

Called L'Isle du Prince Edouard in French. It is shortened to IPE in French and PEI in English. Prior to colonization, it was a part of a greater territory of the Mi'kmaq people known as Mi'kma'ki, which also included Nova Scotia, New Brunskwick, and Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as parts of Maine and Quebec.
