The original name of the settlement is disputed; according to the Guinness Book of World Records, it is derived from "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de Porciúncula" (English: The town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels of Portiuncula); there are various sources which have shortened or alternate versions of the longer name.
