Perse's mention of the poem when I posted about Elaina reminded by that I used to like Shalott (sha-LOT) itself as a girls' name. What do you think? Is it too out there / arty? Should it just be a middle name? Because of the second syllable stress, I think it shoulds quite good as a middle name sound-wise anyway ... How are these combinations?

Morgan Shalott (too much Arthurian background for one name, I suspect)

Sorry! Shallots are a member of the onion family, similar to "spring onions".

I think that Esmée Shalott is absolutely gorgeous!

I do prefer Shalott as a middle name, and I love that combo.

Shalott is great as either a fn or mn. I don't think it's too arty, but that's just me. :-) My favorites are:

I'm not sure I'd like being named after the Lady of Shalott. The poem is gorgeous, but it's also quite sad. And shalotts are onions, as well, which isn't the greatest association.

However, if you really love the poem and the name, I think it would work--but only as a middle name. Layla Shalott (MUCH prefer Leila Shalott, which looks much more dignified and less like Kayla) is my favourite of those you've listed.

I like it, you could use the nn Lottie, Lotta maybe, although I would prefer it as a middle name.
