[Facts] Re: Name translations - English to Italian
in reply to a message by Martha
This is BtN's translation tool:
http://www.behindthename.com/translate.html
This only covers names which have a direct translation into Italian - usually Biblical names (Anne, Matthew) or Latin- or Greek-based names (Felicity, Katherine). For names that don't have a direct Italian equivalent you can use the Italian names database (http://www.behindthename.com/nmc/ita.html) to look up a name which looks or sounds roughly the same.
If any of your friends have word names (such as Crystal, Amber, Brook etc) you can use www.altavista.com/babelfish/ to translate their names into Italian - just make sure you change the ending to be correct for the person (o is masculine, a is feminine).
If you put the names here, I'd be happy to translate them for you and give you a guide to pronunciation as well (I did Italian at university).
:-)
