Beauharnios doesn't sound French to me, but I'm in Quebec. Which College? More French sounding is Beauharnois...

Thanks for the site but unfortunately I don't know French. There is a date of 1838 which I plesume was when it was started so she or her father or mother could not have attend there as she was born in 1828.
Also they lived in oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, England which is very remote from Canada.
I am beginning to think her Father James Oddie went over to France possible during the napoleonic wars and brought the name back but he did not realise that it was a surname not a first name as in Charles de Beauharnois the founder of the Quebec college.
I need to do a lot more research.
