Has anyone heard of this name? If so, how is it pronounced? Is it a "mispelled" version of Marie?

It seems to me a different spelling of Marij, which is pronounced the same as Marei. It's actually a Dutch version of Marie. :)

It looks like a bad type of Marie. I've never seen/heard of it before, but if it's like Marie, then I'd say stick with the original.
