Mataoaka (not Matoaka) is from Pamunkey (which I think is an Iroquois language) and it means "she plays with things".

Hi,Not to offend, but I'm not so sure about it being Mataoaka and not Matoaka. There are a number of sources which claim that it was the latter and not the former... You are right about her being from Pamaunkee, however. I remember that from about 8 years back when I was doing a little library research on Pocahontas. :) I've got some Algonkin blood and wanted to know more about the people (including their history).Pleased to "meet" you!(:>
