[Opinions] Caryn for a boy
Replies
I wouldn't, the name looks and sounds like a girl's. He will most likely be made fun of, and lastly, he will hate the name. Take it from a 13 year old, dont name a boy Caryn
Me too
I don't know if you'll read this thread because its gotten pushed down, but I love "girl's" names on boys too...
I won't use them probably because of the general population's idea that since they are used on girls they are girls names. Some of my favorites are:
Cary (this spelling only)
Ashley
Shannon
Kelly
Karen or Kieran
Do you have a child named Keren? I love this name for a girl- its the name of one of Job's daughters.

You said that you wouldn't use those names because they're often seen as girl's names. Don't think that way; use them on a boy if you have one in the future if you like them! It's that thinking that causes names like those you mentioned to go feminine.
It's terrible to me.
I don't care for it. It's just a form of the female name Karen, and usually, people try to feminize male names by adding a Y to a name, so that doesn't help its masculinity.

I know 2 girls called Karin and this reminds me too much of that name and sounds feminine to me. But I do like the way it looks...
Eek! This, imo, is a strange reversal of the usual "let's misspell a male name to make it 'feminine'!" philosophy. Caryn's just a misspelled name kre8ivlee spelled to mimic Cary in an attempt to make the name more masculine. I think it failed miserably.
Carran would've been much better. Or even Ciaran / Kieran.
Miranda

IMO that spelling looks more feminine than the original!
I like it better for a boy too, if it had started that way. If Karen wasn't such a recognizable fem. name, I would think it masculine.
