To carry is "pherein" in Greek, but "phora" is indeed "carrying, movement, course, tribute" (like in "amphora", which means "both sides carry" because of the two handles)
"Syn" means "(together)with"
Now "symphero" is: to assemble, to help, to be useful, to be suitable
