[Facts] Re: meaning of Kerith
The Hebrew name of the brook Kerith (pronounced "keh-REETH") literally means "a cut". It comes from the root word "kah-RAHTH" which means "to cut off", "to cut down", "to cut asunder", implying "to destroy".-- Nanaea

In context it means ravine, a natural "cutting" made or occupied by the stream of the same name.

I am also a Kerith. My parents got the name from a James Michener book called THE SOURCE taking place during archaeic times with Kerith being a Jewish princess who defies her family, leaves her husband and runs off with a poor musician.Thank you for the definition and root word meaning. That is great!
