[Opinions] Do you really like George Carlin that much?
in reply to a message by as
If you don't, you might have more than a little trouble when everyone else in America associates the name with him.May I suggest you use Carla, Carlotta, or even just plain Carly? Any of those would trump Carlyn any day of the week.Array

I didn't see that you'd reposted.Since it was within the same minute that I did. We just missed each other--sorry! If it's family, it's family, and you're lucky that your mother's maiden name wasn't something like Schneeburger. ;)I still think that the George Carlin associations are a bit too strong for a first name (a middle name would be okay)--but if you're going to use it, I'd spell it Carlin. Looks a lot more feminine to me than Carlyn, which just looks silly in my eyes. Besides, if your mother was a Carlin, it would be most honouring her by naming a child Carlin.Oh--and would you consider Carlin for a son? I think it would work very nicely on a boy. Carl would be nice, too.Array

I'm an American and I live in the US and I have no idea who George Carlin is.
