Pssst...! "Katy" is merely an alternate spelling of "Katie", which is a diminutive of "Katherine", "Catherine", "Kathleen", "Cathleen", etc. A different spelling doesn't change the meaning of the name -- it merely changes the way the name looks on the birth certificate, and sometimes even the way people look at the name-bearer.
