[Opinions] Question for Ylva
in reply to a message by Ylva
Thanks. I couldn't remember exactly how to spell Liselotte. It's very pretty. One question: Is Lotte pronounced "LOT-ee" or "LOT-eh/uh?" in Scandinavia/Germany?I always thought it was an "-eh/uh" sound at the end. Maybe I'm wrong. I do like the "LOT-ee" pronunciation, but only as the English nn Lottie. Am I confused here? It wouldn't be the first time . . . .

Lotte is pronounced as Lotte, not as Lotta. The e-sound is somewhat like the English ay-sound, Lott-ay. Hard to describe. Just as in Anneliese. The last E is not mute, not is it pronounced as "ee", nor as "ah".
