"Morvern" is apparently a variation of "Morven", as both names have been used interchangeably for a pennisula on the western shore of northern Scotland.According to Kate Monk's Onomastikon at http://www.gaminggeeks.org/Resources/KateMonk/England-Firstnames/Literary/Ossian.htm...the place-name is derived from the Gaelic phrase: a Mhor bhairne, meaning: "at the big gap" (in reference to Fingal's Kingdom).-- Nanaea
