[Facts] Re: Alamia
I couldn't find the meaning of your name in any surname reference books of mine, or by means of a 'net search, although I did see that the name appears to be an Italian surname, despite the fact that you know of someone who had it as a given name.So I'm going to take a guess as to the meaning of the name by translating it from Italian to English."Alamia" could be "a lamia"."a"=the preposition meaning "at", "to", or "by""lamia"=a feminine noun meaning "witch" in Italian.Put them together and you get a name which literally means: "By a witch". Although I seriously doubt that's what "Alamia" may have meant originally, as not too many people in Italy during the Burning Times would have been quite so open about professing an association with witchcraft of any kind. But I think it's a cool enough meaning to ascribe to the name today. :)-- Nanaea
