[Opinions] Sibeal
Sibeal said sha-bayle is a new found favourite of mine, it's supposedly the Irish form of Isabel (which is too popular for me) and I was wondering your thoughts? It's similar to Siobhan I think which is growing in popularity where I live. Thanks in advance!

I like it but be prepared that no one will ever pronounce it correctly. You will spend the rest of your life explaining this to everyone who attempts to say the name.By the way, in your sig, you have Harriet Siobhan. Flip it, try Siobahn Harriet. Now, that is a nice name. A kid can be proud of that and it's unique.

I love Sibeal, and I like Sybil as a nn for Isabel.

Sibeal is alright. I'm *ALMOST* purebred Irish (*sighs* I'm 4% Prussian), so I've got a lot of favorites and family names I love.
I do have a second cousin Sibeal, but I like her sisters' names better (Siobhan, Sinead, Sile and Saoirse). I don't know, it might grow on me.

I love Irish names and I do like Isabel a lot and agree that it is way too popular. Using Sibeal is a rather nice idea but I'm afraid people might have a hard time pronouncing it (especially in the USA and perhaps even in the UK) and would say se-beel or sy-beel instead of the beautiful sha-bayle. :(
There's also the Irish Isibeal which I would presume is pronounced like e-sha-bayle or eye-sha-bayle. I think that Sibeal would fit well with the other names you like that are listed in your sig, especially Caspian, Evadne and Penelope! :)

I have never heard of it before now, but I really like they way it sounds, despite the hard b not being a particular favorite of mine. I really like that it is the Irish form of Isabel, as well. :)

I really don't like it. It sounds like Sha-BAM! to me or something which isn't classy. I think Siobhan is much nicer. I really can't imagine how it could be overly popular.
