[Opinions] Phaelon? (m)
A girl who dances in the same company I do has this name, and pronounces it 'VAY-lin.' Like Jaelyn. At first I thought it was spelled 'Vaelyn' and I didn't like it, but this spelling is beginning to grow on me. WDYT?

Does "ph" make a "v" sound in some other language? If not, that's just a ridiculous spelling for that pronunciation. Not crazy about it either way, though.
ETA: Seems to be the case in Greek (after doing some "research"). I still don't care for the name, but at least that's better than being in the category of naming your kid Gake and saying it sounds like "Jake". :b

It reminds me too much of the Greek male name, Philon.

I don't like it for a girl and I would pronounce it like Fay-lon. I like the look of it, it's like a name from a Greek tradgedy...
I don't care for it much. At first glance I would pronounce it a FAY-lawn. I do have to say though I like the sound of VAY-lin much better.
