I like it to and prefer the full name, but regarding your niece, i think we should all be thankful She's known as Mira and not as Randi.

That was why Mira was chosen
To prevent Randi. :-D My sister-in-law wishes she'd named her Mira.
Her whole name is actually Mary Miranda, as her mother is Mary Renee. So they decided to have her go by Miranda, but with the nickname Mira. It has been incredibly confusing for her, and it's been in the last few years, she's 10, that she understands her whole name. :-D
