[Opinions] Eloise
Replies
It makes me think of an older lady, only because it's my aunt's name. I disliked it for a long time (mostly due to her...she's nice enough, but very high & mighty too :-/) but now I think it's fabulous and would love to meet a little Eloise. I also think of the character in the children's books, so I can definitely picture it on a little girl. I don't care that much for Lois in general, but I don't see why it couldn't be a nn for it. I'd prefer Ellie or Ella or even Louise (or Lou or Lulu). :)
I love the name Eloise. I don't like the NN Lois, but prefer Ellie. For the sibset - I like Eloise and Finley, but not Frederick and Ewan.
Thanks

I absolutly love the name Eloise! I don't think Lois works as a nn. Louise would, but I don't think it needs one, as it's pretty short (El and Ellie would too). The spelling Aloise isn't icky, but I prefer Eloise by a long shot. I'm also a fan of your sibset, though I don't really like the name Ewan in general.
I don't care for the EEZE sound in Eloise.
I do like Lois a lot, which is one of my exceptions to the current "the more old-fashioned the better" fad. I think it has a nice sound. And the association with Lois Lane gives it another little kick imo.
Frederick and Finley are nice.
Ewan is not attractive in my opinion. (Though the actor is, yum!)

I think it is ok, not really my style though. I do know someone with this name that goes by Ellie, so that could be another possible nn.
Eloise is cute, if not a personal fave. The name sounds very young to me, because my first association has to do with the childrens' books about a little girl named Eloise who lives in a hotel (I think that was the premise?). Eloise is much better than Aloise, imo. Frederick is fine, but nms. Finley is cool and sounds young to me. Ewan is ok, but I prefer Owen, as Ewan looks to me like "eww" and ewe.
