First off, let me say I don't intend to use this for a child. :P Maybe a character of some sort...
I was researching the origins of my name, going beyond the BtN entry because it wasn't complete enough for me, and I found that it likely had two names that influenced the usage of the name:
Hecate and Hekaterus.
Hecate comes from an Indo-European root meaning "out" or "afar", and Hekaterus means "hundred wonders" in Greek.
I was mulling all this over in my head, and Ekatera occured to me. It would mean "far away wonders" from the roots eka- "afar" and -tera "wonders". WDYT?
How would you pronounce it?
My first inclination is eh-KAT-er-ah, (which would probably be more authentic, as authentic as a name like this could get...) but eh-kah-TER-ah is nice too.
