Personally, I think Allie or Callie sounds a bit immature. I think it's nice for women to have a more formal, professional sounding name, at least for resumes or business cards, even if everyone calls them by a nickname. People call me Laurie, but I would never want to put that on a resume.

I really love the name Allison, I just wish it wasn't so popular. I also really like the name Calla, nn Callie.

I don't mind either one as nn's, but I don't care for them as given names, esp. not Allie. They seem like little girls' nn's not a grown woman's first name. :-/ Allison is very 1980s to me. Seems dated and I also don't care much for the -son ending (even though it doesn't mean "son of" like so many others :b). Alice is gorgeous imo, though.

Allison is fine, IMO, although I do actually (for some reason) like this name spelled differently. Usually I hate kre8yvve spellings, but for Allison I like Alison, Allysen, Allasyn, etc. That's just me though.

There are a little many Allies, but I don't mind it. It's cool, girlish, cute, and can also be mature.

Callie is also cute. It's very fresh and pretty. I also like the spellings Kali, Cali, Kally, & Kallie.

Overall, I think Callie stands alone better than Allie, which I would prefer as a NN for Allison.

My name's just Allie. I don't really like Allison. A lot of people assume my name's Allison, though. I think Callie can stand alone as well.

I think both are wonderful nicknames, but they feel juvenile as given names. I'd opt for an Al- name and Calista or Calla instead. Putting a nn on a birth certificate is something I just don't understand; it's better, in my mind, to give your child the freedom to choose whether she wants to be an Alexandra, Alex, or Lexi as she ages. As an adult Alison, nn Allie, I've always appreciated having a more formal fn with a cute nn.

I love them both as nicknames, but I don't think they'd age well. Could you imagine a 40year old Allie?

I love both Allie & Callie, I think if you spell it like Allie then it can stand alone, but Ali, in my opinion, is too short looking.

Callie, I think, can stand by itself. I like it as a nn for Caroline, but I love Callie a lot more than Caroline, so I wouldnt want to name a child Caroline just so I can use the nickname, you know? So I'd probably just use Callie.

I'm not thrilled about either. Callie is decent enough, though, but only as a NN for something like Calista, Calla, or Calanthe. I don't like Allie at all. I think they're both far to cutesy and weak to stand on their own.

Hmm... I like Alison better than Allison.

I like Allie, although I can't say the same for Callie. But recently it's been getting on my nerves how many little girls are named Allie -it's making it sound trashy, I hate to say. Callie is already past the point of no return.

Allison is adorable. I know a little girl named this, and all her friends call her Ally. It fits her perfectly.
