I'd only advocate the
Eduard spelling if it's a family name or part of your heritage, etc. Otherwise, it's just confusing. He'll always have to say 'It's
Edward, with a U instead of a W.' Maybe because
Edward is such a well-known name, and 'everyone' knows how to spell it. I don't care for
Ed or
Eddie, either, but I love
Ned,
Ted, and
Teddy. Speaking of
Ed- names, I prefer
Edmund to
Edward, but both are nice.
