There's been a lot of discussions on twinsets here lately, and I suddenly remembered that in my high school there were 2 twins named
Valeria and
Valentina. The worse thing was that their surname also started with "Vale" and was very close to one of the names. On Big Brother UK this year there's apparently 2 identical twins named
Amanda and
Samantha, that' too close imo, especially for identical twins. A better twinset I know is
Margherita (nn Tita) and
Valentina, I think they flow nicely together and it's nice to combine a traditional old-fashioned name to one that in Italian is a bit more trendy and relatively new in use. Unfortunately I can't think of any male twinsets I've heard, good or bad. I think that while having themey twinsets in meaning (say,
Spring and
Winter) or sound is particularly bad since it deprives twins of their individuality, which is already a potential problem, especially with identical twins, I do think the two names have to flow nicely together and sound nice together, and this is more important than with ordinary sibsets because twins are usually likely to do more things together for longer, for instance being in the same class in school, sharing the same group of friends or attending the same university at the same time and maight be known around as"X and Y" at least until early adulthood (these are just examples based on twinsets I've known or heard about, I know it may not be the case for all). I particularly like the idea of a "hidden" theme in a twinset, such as 2 names with the same etymology, such as
Deborah and
Melissa. What do you think?
