Only as a nicknameIt's cutesy and childish as a full name for an adult imo.Alfred and Alfredo are the most obvious full names for Alfie, but there's also Alfonso / Alphonso, Alfons / Alphonse, Alfeo, and Alphaeus.

The only Alfie I know is a dog. So to me it's not a great name to use on a child.

Only as a nickname for Alfred.

I love it as a nn for Alfred, which I also love. I couldn't imagine it as a full name tho.

It's so popular here in the U.K but I do actually like it. It's the only name where I prefer the nickname over the full name (Alfred)

Alfie is a common full name for boys in the UK, though I much prefer Alfred nn Alfie.
It also reminds me of the Shirley Hughes books with Alfie and little sister Annie Rose.

I loved those books!but it does mean that every time I see another little Alfie, I think of that series!
I also prefer it as a nn for Alfred, but I don't think I've ever met an Alfie who didn't have it as a full name.

Me too! Alfie and Annie-Rose are one of my guilty pleasure sibsets. =D I really like Alfie and think it stands well enough on its own though I'd also prefer it as a nn for Alfred because it sounds that much more distinguished on an adult.
