[Opinions] Kasia
I was looking through a baby name book and they had the name Kasia in it. They put that it was pronounced "Kass-ee-ah," but on here they have it as "Kah-Shah" which is Polish. I think maybe the origin was different in the book or something.
Anyways, my question is would it be wrong to use the name Kasia, but pronounce it "Kass-ee-ah" instead of the polish way?
Would it make a difference if it was spelled Kassia?

Personally, I wouldn't look at Kasia and pronounce it "KASS-ee-uh," but I wouldn't pronounce it "KAH-shah" either. To me, Kasia looks like "KAY-shah," but maybe that's just me. For the spelling Kasia, I prefer the prn "KAH-shah."
However, I do think that if you're going for "KASS-ee-uh," you should definitely consider Kassia or Cassia. I think people would generally know how to pronounce it properly if it were spelled that way and she wouldn't always have to be correcting people.

I see Kasia and Kassia as totally different names with different origins. Kasia is a short form of the Polish Katarzyna and Kassia is the default Greek spelling for Cassia (Latin spelling). I believe Kassia was an ancient Greek poet. For the record, I like both Kasia and Kassia.
Re: the pronunciation of Kasia, I do say KAH-sha, but I think you could get away with KASS-ee-a which is how I pronounce Kassia. I think if you're going with KASS-ee-a, perhaps you should consider the Kassia spelling.

It wouldn't be "wrong", but I prefer the Polish pronunciation, regardless of spelling.
no it wouldnt make a difference its a really cute name i've also heard it pronounced like kay-sha
It's one of my favorites. I say it Kah-shah, and sometimes I like to say Kahs-yuh. Kassia might work better for your pronounciation.
I think if someone knew the correct pronounciation, they would assume that you were ignorant as to how it was really supposed to sound. But if it was spelled Kassia they might think it came from a different source or something.
I prefer the Polish pronounciation to the other one, JMO.

I think if they didn't know better most people would say it Kass-ee-ah anyways. That was my first impression. I prefer the prn KASH-ah though.
