I saw a BA somewhere on the internet of a baby girl named Donavan, called Ava. Donavan (I assume it's a variant of Donovan) is horrible. Ava is very nice, but it's a bit of a stretch for a nickname, IMO. They should have just named her Ava.

That's horrid, imo. Just Ava, though trendy, would've been MUCH better. But Donovan nn Ava is nearly as bad as naming your daughter Damian nn Mia or Jeremy nn Emy. :-/

Their thinking probably went like this:

Well, Ava is so kewl, but it's soooo popular, Chad and Brittney down the street just named their baby Ava, but we *have* to use it somehow!!! What could Ava be a nickname for?

Donovan... Sounds way classy and trendy but we don't know any girls named it. Hey, let's spell it Donavan and there's Ava right there!!! Grop hug!

I agree. Ava is as over popular as it gets, and as a nickname it's just pathetic.
