[Games] Question for you
Curious as to why you think Evangeline Belrose is all right, but Jeannalyn Margaret is too long. It is just that Jeannalyn Margaret looks longer? They both have the same number of letters, and Jeannalyn Margaret is actually 1 syllable shorter (5 in Jee-nuh-lyn Mar-gret in my accent as compared to 6 in E-van-juh-lyn Bel-rose). I'm not getting on you or anything - I've just had other people say things like "I think such-and-such is too long but I really like ______." and their suggestion is just as long as what my original combo was! :o) I guess I'm trying to get around to asking: what makes a name too long? Number of letters? Number of syllables? Or just the way it looks?

LOL, this is tough one to explain, coz what I said about Jeannalyn Margaret being too long for me was something I just immediately thought of when I saw it, I didn't think about the number of letters/syllables! I think it's mostly the way it looks, coz if I had someone say to me 'Jeannalyn Margaret' and 'Evangeline Belrose', I wouldn't say that Jeannalyn Margaret was any longer than Evangeline Belrose, but reading it on a screen, I obviously got that impression...So, I guess in total, I would have to say that it's a combo of syllables and how it looks written out that dictates a names length (IMO), and that the reason I thought that Jeannalyn Margaret was 'too long', was because the 'Jee-nuh' part seems to spread out quite a lot (not that it's a bad thing!). That make sense, coz in Evangeline Belrose, every single letter is there to make a different sound (if you know what I mean)and change the name's sound, whereas in Jeannalyn (not Margaret), some of the letters come together to make one sound. eg, even Jeanalyn would look much shorter to me, even though I've only taken out one letter, because I think it takes up less space... Sorry, that was probably very confusing and not much help, but if you can understand it, I hope you got something useful out of it! :)
