[Opinions] Phil
I was out shopping today, when I heard this woman shouting Phil. At first I thought she may be trying to find her husband but it turned out she was searching for her daughter. I'm just wondering whether her daughter's name was Philippa or something similar. Any other ideas?

Maybe it was Fille
The French word for "girl" and the parents saw it and thought it sounded like "Phil". LOL. I'm just kidding, of course, but the sad thing is, that this could be the truth! :-/

Phil isn't horrible - its one NN I prefer over the full name (although, I see like to see the full name). I picture a man over 40 when I hear this name, or a boy named after his father/grandfather. I have to admit, my face probably looked of disgust when I read daughter.
God, that sucks for a girl.
Could have been Felicia, or Phyllis, or Philana. I know a girl named Philana.
Perhaps Phyllis?Philomena?
Phyllis would seem most likely to me, with Philomena in second, but there's also Phyllida and Philadelphia (very doubtful).
I don't like Phil for a boy (although I do like Philip and love Philippe), but I rather like Phil as an occasional nickname for Philippa (which I love). My only guess is that that stems from my liking the character of Philippa "Phil" so much from the Anne of Green Gables books. *shrugs* That said, I strongly prefer Pippa as a nickname for Philippa.
Anyway, to the point... There's also Philomela.
