Message: "Karsten" - Behind the Name

I was wondering what one thinks of this name for my 3rd baby (don't know what the baby is...but this is the name for a boy possibly)?

Also, is it rude of me to use a name with the Car sound if my husband's only sibling's only child is named Carter? Is it too close? I would consider not using it for that reason alone but this is one of the only names my gut tells me feels right.

I don't think that Karsten and Carter are too close.

I like Karsten, its cute and has a certain spunk to it! As for the cousin thing, in my family there are 2 cousins named Erin Elizabeth and 2 cousins named Sean Francis. So in my opinion, Carter and Karsten are just fine as cousins (at least they are different names!)

I was going to say, Karsten sounds like Carter and Kirsten put together. To me, its a trendy way to combine the two.

All in all, I dont know if I would go with it if the two are cousins, but then again, lots of people say because they are cousins, it really doesnt matter. Maybe mention it to the family - especially if you are close and the kids will be around each other a lot. If you rarely speak, as some families dont, I guess it wouldnt matter too much.
