I did wonder the same thing. The name Nadil is close to Nadir and Nadim but not listed as a first name where ever I looked it up.
A google search did find many people with the last name Nadil. Most of them seem to live in Palestine. Another person with the name Nadil is the Egyptian Abdel Kareem Nadil Suleiman who was sent to jail for his poltical views who he voiced in a blog.
My knowledge about Arabic last names is limited. It seems like lots of last names are first names too.
