It's an Americanization of Mastroianni

I don't think this name is English in origin, English language, that is. I wonder if it is a translation of a foreign name. Maitrejean is a French name, and Mastroianni is Italian. I'm not sure what the master means in these names, it may be for a master craftsman or a Master of Arts.
