My mother named me Elisabeth with an S, trying to be original. She added an E to Kay (Kaye) also trying to be unique.
No one really calls me by a nickname. My grandmother is the only true person I'll allow to call me Lizzie. I'll let a few people at school slide by, but only if I like them. I guess I figure, if I have the name Elisabeth I might as well not make it any uglier by shortening it (no offense to other Elis(z)abeth's out there! I really do like the name....just not for myself).
Libby is the name I sort of like as a nickname.
So some questions....
Question 1: Is the name Elisabeth Kaye a good name?
Question 2: What are some original nicknames for Elisabeth, other than the ones on this site?

Elisabeth June is a pretty name. =)
I can't be referred to as Bessie because my Great Aunt Frances's mother-in-law is/was called that.
Madeleine Ruth is another good name. I've particularly taken an interest in the name Madeline because of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher". Granted, of course, the character in that short story is crazy and was buried alive. Regardless of that, I love the name.
I also think it's kind of cool that both names have a total of 13 letters (in addition to last name...).

I love the name Elisabeth (especially with this spelling). In fact, it's one of my top three favorites for a girl and has been for quite some time. I think it's such a classy name, and the "s" spelling is refreshing, while also adding a touch more of a softer feel to it.
Kaye isn't my style, and seems rather dated and filler imo. The combination works well, though. I, personally, prefer something a little less common as a middle name to Elisabeth. My favorites are Elisabeth Maria (which may seem rather common, but is a family name) and Elisabeth Raina.
2. What are some original nicknames for Elisabeth, other than the ones on this site?
I'm not too great at coming up with nicknames, particularly original ones. My favorites for Elisabeth are rather common: Ellie & Ella. Elise, Elsie, Beth, Lily, & Lily-Beth are cute too, imo. Kaye holds no special meaning. My mother sort of thought it would be fair to give me a short middle name because of the long first name. Although, now she's realized that Kaye is a short version for Katherine, which is the name of my aunt.

I prefer the spelling Elisabeth. Elisabeth Kaye is ok though I prefer Elspeth Katherine.

I like Elisabeth Kaye! It's classic and will age well. My little sister's name is Elizabeth, but we call her Lizzie.

But this is the funny thing. When I was around the age of five, I had a doll that I named Sally. Strangely, when people don't know my name they always seem to guess Sarah. And Sally is a pet form for Sarah. Kind of ironic, don't you think?

I don't personally care for Elizabeth spelled with an S, but it's a fine name spelled with a Z or S and Kaye is nice. The combo is good.

Elisabeth isnt that uncommon where I live its a well accepted alternative spelling and the one I prefer. the same with Kaye.
Elisabeth Kaye is a lovely combo strong yet feminine, its a name with a great many accepted nn which is a bonus for people who like nn
Most of the nn I know are listed on this site, Libby is okay but isnt my favorite nn for Elisabeth that would be Beth or Lili

Elisabeth Kaye is perfectly fine. Elisabeth/Elizabeth is too common for my tastes though. Also, I prefer Kay with this spelling, but Kaye is decent.

I knew it started with a P. I remember that much from The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.
Adah (referred to herself as Ada) was the one obsessed with palindromes. She became an atheist at the age of 6 because her Sunday school teacher made her kneel in rice for an hour because she questioned location having anything to do with being saved. (Her father was a minister so being an atheist....not good.) Adah switched around "Oh God, God's Love" to "Evol's Dog, Dog ho."
Even though half her brain was shrunken, Adah was my favorite character. She was the most interesting of all the Price women.

I think Elisabeth Kaye is a fine name. Right now I prefer the Elizabeth spelling, but that is constantly changing (though, I doubt it will change much anymore, since I'm reading Pride & Prejudice and am falling in love with the character of Elizabeth Bennett). Kaye is nms, but certainly not a bad name by any means.

Yes and I can't see why it shouldn't be a good name. I do think that Elisabeth is a bit boring and sometimes pretentious but I see nothing wrong with it and I like Elisabeth Kaye as a combo.
