[Opinions] Abelardo?
I seen this couple on a baby show whom named their baby boy Abelardo. They call him Abel for short. This is not really my style. But I thought I would post about it to get others opinions. I just never heard this name before. They pronounced it abe-EL-ardo.

I love the name Abelard ("AB-eh-lard"), but not Abelardo ("a-beh-LAR-do"). Abel makes a nice nn for either one.

It's the Italian version of Abélard, the name of a medieval philosopher who had a relationship with his student Heloise, and wound up being castrated by her angry father. So, not the best of namesakes, honestly.

Oops - in response to the OP.I don't think any name containing "lardo" is a good idea, but I do like Abel and I love Abe.
