as it happens. I'm female, and my name is Jean. I live in a French-speaking community, where there are many Jeans, all of them male. so this causes a certain ammount of confusion.
I could avoid mix-ups, by writing my name Jeanne-but I prefer it as my parents gave it to me.
Many of the male Jeans have hyphenated names-Jean-Paul, Jean-Marc, Jean-Louis, Jean-Claude.
