[Opinions] Hannah and Anna
I know most people on this board have some affection for the name Anna, but what are your thoughts on Hannah? If you like Anna better, why?
I've always thought Hannah was softer and more friendly. I probably wouldn't use it as I love other names better, but I just wondered why Anna seemed to get a better responce around here.

Anna is my first name so I have a tendency to like it, but I've always thought that the sound of Hannah was nicer and softer, just like you. Hannah, although it sounds similar to Anna is much less popular in my area so sometimes I wish I was named Hannah so at least my name would be somewhat less bland.

As similar as they are, Anna and Hannah have such a different *feel* to them to me and I've always liked the feel of Anna, but not the feel of Hannah.
Anna is timeless and much more versatile, imo. And I strongly prefer the sound of Anna (it manages to be both soft and strong) as well as the look of it.
I don't know...there's just that something about Anna that makes me love it and see it as a beautiful name and that something about Hannah that makes me really dislike it and find it an unattractive name.
(Oddly enough, I do love Hannelore and Hana, which I pronounce differently than Hannah.)

I prefer Anna over Hannah. Anna is not a particular favorite, it seems pretty plain, but it's better than Hannah. I just can't stand Hannah, for some reason. It always makes me think of an overweight woman in the mid-nineteenth century, dressed in stuffy black and with her hair scraped back from her face and lying really flat on her head. And it also makes me think of chicken soup. I just hate it. I don't like any names that begin with H, anyway.
I like Anna much more than Hannah. All the women named Hanna (The Finnish form of Hannah) have been fussy housewives who were interested only in their husbands and little gossips. Anna is more universal, I have met really different Annas. Most of them are bright, clever and gifted - I know three wonderful musicians, who are named Anna. (Ok, one of the most stupid people I've met was named Anne). Anna sounds to me really poetic, delicate and romantic, it can fit anyone.
Personally I hate Anna so I wouldn't be one of those who seem to love it. It is one of very few names I just can't stand because it is so meaningless and bland to me. I'm not going to go deeper in to that but Anna is defintely not a favorite of mine. I much prefer Anne or even Annie. Hannah is nice but dull but so much better than Anna.
