It's refreshing and unusual, and I don't think it's pedestrian at all.

Laurel Kathleen is fantastic (and I dislike Kathleen a lot, so that's saying something). Laurel Katarina is a bit fluffy for me.

I really like the combo, but I'm not sure if I'd use Kathleen. It's his mum's name, and while I like her well enough you can't honor one mom without honoring the other.

Susan Diane/Dianne

The first version is how her middle is officially spelled, the second is how she spells it. I've thought of honoring her in the past (though I'm not sure if I would), and the only way she'd allow it is if I used Diane. No Susan, no Susannah. She'd hate me.
