[Opinions] Jaime
Jaime [JAY-mee] on a girl? Opinions? Combos?
Replies
Personally, being named Jaimeson Jade (after my father James) and having my nickname (one of them at least) spelled Jaime, I like it on a girl. I can see how it would be masculine (HY-mee) when pronounced as a Spanish name. But it is also French (meaning 'I love' as j'aime). I love my name and always have. Jaimeson I wasn't crazy about as a child but knowing where it comes from I like it as an adult.
As for spelling it J-A-I-M-E, I think it makes sense to me. JAI is a pronounciation like JAY to me and ME says me to everyone in the english language.
I love it. As my own name esp, I love the meaning (I love) b/c it makes me think of good things. Call me crazy but the spelling of Jaime is totally feminine. I would never use that nn as a boys nn b/c the JAI part just looks feminine. For a boy I would go with definately Jamey or *maybe* Jamie.
some combos I like:
Jaime Jade (obviously lol)
Jaime Ashlyn
Jaime Marisol
Jaime Violet
Jaime Aniah (ah-NYE-ah)
Hope this helps! :)

I like it a lot. I like that it's connected to J'aime (I love, in French), and for that reason always makes me want to pronounce it with a Zh sound at the beginning rather than a J. I like Jamie too, but only on a boy. Jaime is gorgeous.

To me...
...any girl name pronounced Jay-me is plain and overly common without the even the redeeming qualities of sounding nice or being classic.

ditto
I have bad associations with people named "Jamie", so the Jaime spelling is the only one I like. It makes it a little better imo. And while Jamie looks nickname-y to me, Jaime looks more complete. I prefer Jaime on a boy, but it's cute on a girl as well. As long as it's spelled Jaime, I like it. :)

Jamie is OK on a girl. It took me some online getting-used-to, because where I live Jamie is always a boy's name. But with the lovely Jamie Spears I've heard a lot of it lately.
The spelling Jaime - that is just needless. It looks like a typo to me. Knowing it's a Spanish man's name just makes it even less appropriate :-/

I agree. Jaime is 100% masculine and 100% HY-mee to me. I would no more read the name Jaime and pronounce it JAY-mee than I would read the name Jesus and pronounce it JEEZ-us.
Jamie is the best spelling by far, but any spelling other than Jaime is still a better choice, imo. Jami, Jayme, Jaymie, whatever, just please not Jaime.
