[Opinions] Re: Ivanna
I'm sorry, but I have to say that the Russian spelling is Ivana, as is in all other Slavic countries as far as I know, so Ivanna just looks wrong to me. It's an ok name, but boring and dated to me, Ivan however is quite popular here at the moment. And I'd prononounce it with an 'ee'.Edited: The link shows that the Russian spelling has two nns, but I've only met Russian women who used the Ivana spelling. Are there any Russian posters who can explain this?

I've seen it in lists as Ivanna. I know the other Slavic countries have Ivana. It's interesting that you say it's dated and boring. That's what someone Russian told me when I said I like the pet name Vanya for Ivan - it's an old man's name and for a peasant, she said!

Ivana was the most popular girl's name here 20-30 years ago, and I always had 4 or 5 in my classes (and they hated it). Ana was the second most popular, and we're all a bit tired of them here.
