I was reading a story today that I wrote when I was about eleven years old. The main character in the story is a girl named Isidore. Isadora has been popping in and out of my top five girls names for a while but, now I think about it, I really do like Isidore for a girl. WDYT? I know y'all are probably going to hate it but It's worth asking anyway.

P.s.
I wasn't even going to post this question at all untill I saw the post below. something about seeing the name Isadora made me think it wasn't a totally crazy idea

I like either Isadora or Isadore. I think it is because Isadore just sounds like a French version of Isadora to me, much like Amelie is to Amelia or Sylvie is to Sylvia.

Isidore for a boy. Isidora / Isadora for a girl.

Sorry. Knee-jerk reaction for me. I want to be open and try to think of it as maybe a French feminine form like Laure, Flore, or Aurore. But it's just not sinking in. I'm too used to Isidore for a boy.

It strikes me as very gauche, particularly when it's only a letter and a sound away from a very striking, legitimate girl's name.

Isidore is a fine name for a gentleman, but take a page from the great dancer Isadora Duncan, and use it instead. :)
