It is quite simply impossible to be certain what the Etruscan language sounded like. And, if you think about it, tahr-koo-een spoken rapidly and informally does come out rather like tahr-kwin.All we can be sure about is the English pronunciation, which is definitely TAHR-kwin. And why not stay with a living language, rather than speculate about what might or might not have been going on 2500 years ago? Plus, in English Paris is not Paree, and in French London is Londres, and everyone copes just fine.

Thats helpful, thanks. What I couldn't figure out is whether the correct english pronounciation is tar-quinn or closer to tar-kinn. sounds like tar-quinn is right.
